Canterbury is 55 miles (89 km ) from London, easy access by train , bus , or car.--------The head of the worldwide Anglican Church is based here. The Archbishop of Canterbury. The Archbishop of Canterbury is number one of the two Archbishops of the Church of England, the other is the Archbishop of York.-----Canterbury is a popular destination for tourists, and a small compact city.------------ A bit of history that i remember from my school days is that Thomas Becket was murdered in Canterbury Cathedral in 1170 AD, there is a shrine to Becket in the cathedral.--------------

---------I was staying 3 nights in Dover. Canterbury was a day trip, plus a ferry trip to Calais France, and day in Dover, seeing the Castle and Roman Lighthouse.---------I took the train from London Victoria to Dover in the month of July, taking 2 hours. The train from Dover to Canterbury East took 28 minutes. The day trip by ferry from Dover to Calais France took 90 minutes each way.
